Using your preferred method of counting, prompt the students to echo you clapping rhythm patterns from "Deck the Hall" as a warm up. Include dotted quarter note, eighth note rhythm patterns.
Play the song. Prompt the students to identify the rhythm patterns from the warm up. Echo-clap the rhythms. Echo-sing the rhythms with lyrics.
Review that a verse is the section of a song in which the tune remains constant but the lyrics change with each repetition. Invite students to identify how many verses are in the song.
Teach the students "Deck the Hall."
